Interview with a Sales Rep: Featuring Rob Lunenfeld - Ep. 7

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working with motivated coaches and building relationships.

What is the best part about being a Gold Athletics Sales Rep/Fundraising Coach?

The friendships that have been built and how Gold Athletics is always working hard to advance the industry.

How would you describe the company culture at GA in just a few words?

Structured. Disciplined. Always advancing.

How'd you get into Sports Fundraising at Gold Athletics?

I have been in the industry for 24 years. I started talking to Gold Athletics in 2019 and was excited about their future goals of advancing their vision and growth.

What didn’t you know before you started that you wish someone had told you?

It is a consistent grind, season by season, coach to coach. Sometimes building new relationships with new coaches is a challenge because the turnover is a lot.

What would you tell someone hoping to enter the field?

Be patient its not a sprint it’s a marathon it takes time you just have to keep grinding once you get that first successful sale now you will have good stories to tell.

What is one thing that makes you good at your job?

I am extremely persistent and I take things very seriously that’s the passion I have.

What is changing the most in the fundraising industry?

More competition when it comes to technology and the percentage game that competition brings.

How will your role evolve in five, or ten years? How will it get there?

Well I am 55 so not sure what my role will be. My goal every year is to be the best fundraising coach I can be.

What kind of person would do well in your role?

Someone who is competitive who hates to lose and is never satisfied.
