When kicking off your team’s fundraiser, getting your players motivated to sell our products is key to a successful fundraising experience. Ways to Motivate Players

Athletes have motivation on the field to help fuel their goals. Bringing that motivation from the field to your fundraiser can get players engaged in meeting your team’s selling goals. 


Some methods can include: 

  • Create friendly competition amongst players 

  • Award players when reaching fundraising milestones 

  • Set clear goals at the kickoff of the fundraiser 

  • Reinforce the end result of the fundraiser and how the effort will lead to impact

  • Post leaderboards outside your team's locker room. 

  • Highlight successes and remind players of the energy at the kickoff. 

  • Schedule meetings dedicated to showing progress of the fundraising experience. 


The Role of Coaches & Team Leaders 

Fundraising Reps kick off your fundraisers with passion and dedication, but as the season progresses, the motivation to keep that momentum starts with the coaches and team leaders. By conducting daily check-ins, expressing enthusiasm, and celebrating success, players can become motivated by seeing that every contribution matters, big or small. 

Team leaders, whether that be the team captain or a strong presence on the team, can motivate players by sharing their past experiences and successes with Gold Athletics if they have them, and by continuing on with the energy they had at the kickoff. 


Fun & Creative Engagement Ideas

Fundraising should not feel like a chore. It should be a fun experience for the athletes, not something they feel they have to do. 


Some ideas to try: 

  • Team Challenges: when your team reaches a goal, coaches can take on a funny challenge. 

  • Social Media Highlights: Repost Gold Athletics posts, but also make your own to coincide with your individual team to share progress. 

  • Partners: pair two players together. This will hold them accountable and force them to be motivated to compete with their fellow teammates. 


How to Overcome Slumps in Motivation

Without a doubt, there will be roadblocks that hinder the amount of energy your team has to keep up the hard work on fundraising. To overcome this, try: 

  • Set smaller goals if your original goals are not manageable at the moment. 

  • Reinforce what the end result of the fundraiser will be for the team and program. 

  • Mix up initiatives and give players more flexibility if able to.
